Having said that, there is a ceiling hanging light option within the Swoon Mendel collection which offers a means of lighting an interior space from above – however, again it uses a frosted glass shade to target and narrow the stream of light so that it invites and creates more of an atmosphere in the surrounding space.
In terms of the frame and structure of the floor and desk lamps, the idea is that the square base holds the light in place and conceals the wiring for a refined and elegant finish.
