The West Elm Caldas floor lamp, however, takes this brief to the next level with its unique structure and the blending of two opposing but equally decorative and eye-catching materials.

At first glance, this lamp appears to be unbalanced and leaning, with a floating lamp shade just above the top of the wooden frame below. But when you look closer you see a gold metal bar set against the angled wooden frame, providing the third leg on the lamp’s base and holding the lamp shade in place.

The leaning design is unique and artistic and makes this the perfect light for a modern setting thanks to its minimalist but definitive decorative finish.

Despite the angled frame and juxtaposing use of metal and wood, the light itself is unaffected and remains a steady, central point to the lamp’s structure – shrouded in the soft neutral linen shade which enables light to filter into the surrounding space.
